Zi Wei Dou Shu is also known as the Purple Star Astrology System. It is a system of Chinese astrology much like its more popular cousin BaZi (also known as Eight Characters or the Four Pillars of Destiny).
Like BaZi, Zi Wei Dou Shu can foretell a person’s character as well as his potential throughout his life with money, profession, asset, health and relationship with parent, siblings, spouse, children and friends. This is done by simply examining a person’s date and time of birth!
BaZi expresses a person’s date and time of birth into a set of stems and branches and evaluates the elemental relationship between them to arrive at a prediction.Zi Wei Dou Shu on the other hand expresses a person’s date and time of birth into a set of real and imaginary stars. These stars are placed in 12 courts and a person’s potential throughout his life is evaluated based on the characteristics and combination of the stars in the courts and so on.
Zi Wei Dou Shu and the Lunar Calendar
BaZi uses the Hsia or Chinese Solar Calendar while Zi Wei Dou Shu uses the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Either way the reading is quite accurate when done by a skilled practitioner. I must stress that the life path reading is not cast in stone. Rather it shows the highly probable path that your life will take. It is possible to shape your fate within that probable path.
Zi Wei Dou Shu is attributed to Chen Hsi Ee who lived during the Song dynasty about 1000 years ago. Elements of the system existed earlier and Chen Hsi Ee is believed to have refined, improved and properly documented the system.
Although there are 100+ stars in the Zi Wei Dou Shu system, between 30 to 40 of them are considered to be very important and used frequently during the reading.
These stars are distributed in 12 courts or zones called Fate, Sibling, Spouse, Children, Wealth, Health, Travel, Friends, Profession, Property, Enjoyment and Parent based on your date and time of birth.
At a very basic level, the stars in a court affect that aspect of your life. For example the Tian Fu star in the wealth court would imply a steady cash flow with potential to accumulate wealth. This ability however can be negated by the presence of 'bad' stars or enhanced by the presence of 'good' ones.
Furthermore the stars found in the courts of triangular harmony and directly opposite will influence the stars in the wealth court and modify the results further!
This is why it takes years to master Zi Wei Dou Shu Astrology.
